Static Structure and Live Bindings

Imports are live read-only views onto the exporter's binding rather than copied values, so a later reassignment in the exporting module is visible to every importer. A favourite question because it is the sharpest observable difference from require(), and it explains counter-intuitive circular-dependency behaviour.
