Linear Memory Model

Memory as one contiguous, growable byte array addressed by offsets, with 64 KiB pages, memory.grow, shared memory for threads, and mandatory bounds checking. Interviewers ask because it is why Wasm is sandboxed, and why passing anything other than numbers means laying out and copying bytes yourself.
